URMIAnetwork Rules & Etiquette

Thank you for joining our members-only discussion communities, a platform for interactive peer-to-peer support. Posts in the community are intended to stimulate conversations and serve as a means to share resources. You will receive a digest email of discussions in the communities to which you are subscribed. By joining, you agree that you have read and will follow these rules and guidelines. Please send questions about community etiquette, your digest emails, and community subscriptions to the URMIA National Office via this Contact Us link.

Etiquette

  • Be professional – do not use defamatory, abusive, or offensive language.

  • Do not promote your products and services. Instead focus on best practices and key findings. Respond to a member individually with information if you believe it would help them.

  • Posts should relate to higher education risk management or selected member news, such as retirement, professional awards, etc. If you have a question about whether a post is appropriate, please contact the URMIA National Office.

  • Institutional job openings may be posted, but should not include detailed job descriptions. Please take advantage of the URMIA Career Center for that purpose.

  • Post a message in one community only, and not in multiple communities. The All Members Community includes institutional, affiliate, student, and retiree members. Choose whether you wish all members to see your post, or whether the topic is more appropriate to post in a community limited by type of member, topical area, or event.

  • Post material protected by copyright only with the documented permission of the copyright owner.

  • Mass solicitation of members is prohibited; we do not sell our member list.

  • URMIA reserves all rights to edit or delete posted messages it considers inappropriate, off-topic, or self-promotional.

URMIA Values
